Fire on the Bayou

Horror Feature

Synopsis

The year is 1982, and struggling college student Caroline is given the unenviable task of curating a museum on a former slave plantation. But when she stumbles upon a powerful West African relic, used in slave revolts and spiritual warfare, it triggers the awakening of the spirit of Absalom-- an enslaved individual who led a revolt against the white slaveowners in his community. Suddenly, Caroline finds herself imbued with his supernatural abilities, using them to seek revenge against those who have wronged Absalom and his people. As she delves deeper into the town's history, Caroline realizes that the legacy of slavery and white supremacy still haunts its residents. With the help of Yaya, the town's last remaining practitioner of ancestral veneration, Caroline uncovers the town's dark secrets and fights against those who seek to profit from the oppression and horror that enslaved people experienced. Can Caroline break the cycle of exploitation and exact justice for the ancestors, or will the legacy of oppression continue to haunt the descendants of the enslaved forever?

The Soundtrack

As a storyteller, I always seek ways to elevate and enhance my craft. Music has been (and always will be) intrinsic to my creative process. It's a powerful tool in my arsenal, as it not only inspires me but also reflects the mood and imagery I'm conveying in my writing. That's why for every script I work on, I curate a playlist that transports me (and hopefully you, the reader) to the worlds I've created. So take a listen, immerse yourself in the music, and enjoy the journey.
